Zagreb — 6 September 2024 — The Dražen Petrović Memorial Game, held on September 5 at Arena Zagreb, featured the innovative playing surface provided by ASB GlassFloor. This emotional event, attended by 15,000 spectators, honoured basketball legend Dražen Petrović and celebrated his lasting legacy.
The game brought together the Croatian National Team and “Team Dražen,” which included some of Europe’s top players under the guidance of coaches Neven Spahija and Željko Obradović. More than just a sporting event, it was a tribute to both Dražen Petrović and the sport of basketball. The memorial game demonstrated how innovation in sports flooring can enhance both playing conditions and the spectator experience.
An Event to Remember
The game itself was a closely contested match, with “Team Dražen” narrowly defeating Croatia 110–107. Mario Hezonja was the standout player of the evening, leading the Croatian team with 36 points. Dzanan Musa was the top scorer for “Team Dražen” with 19 points, supported by Tornike Shengelia and Mathias Lessort, who each contributed 13 points.
Beyond the sports competition, the event featured numerous emotional highlights, including a moving speech by Dražen’s brother, Aleksandar Petrović. Among the guests were NBA stars such as Luka Dončić and Bojan Bogdanović, as well as former basketball greats like Toni Kukoč and Dino Rađa.
A special highlight of the evening was the appearance of the Croatian silver medal-winning team from the 1992 Olympic Games. A hologram of Dražen Petrović created an emotional moment as the entire arena sang along to the classic “Za dobra stara vremena” by the Croatian band Novi Fosili.
