With its opening event on July 26 in Berlin, THE LGCY SERIES brought together basketball, music, creators, and fans for a unique live experience. Led by League Presidents Dennis Schröder and Franz Wagner, the new competition aims to redefine basketball, how it is played, experienced, and consumed. With around 2,500 spectators and guests attending the sold-out Uber Eats Music Hall, eight teams competed in a fast-paced tournament format, delivering an exciting glimpse into the future of the sport.
At the heart of the event was the ASB GlassFloor, transforming the court into an interactive stage where sport and entertainment seamlessly merged. Dynamic LED graphics, visual effects, and digitally integrated game elements turned every game into an immersive experience, both for the audience inside the arena and viewers around the world.
THE LGCY SERIES takes a new approach to basketball by combining innovative rules with an entertainment-focused event production. Features such as the 4-Point Zone, the Coaching Challenge, and the fast-paced tournament format create a dynamic spectator experience that reimagines basketball as a live event and opens up new possibilities for fan interaction.
The ASB GlassFloor played a central role in bringing this concept to life. As a fully digital playing surface, the court can display animations, branding, and game-related content in real time and adapt flexibly throughout the event. The 4-Point Zone and the Coaching Challenge were directly visualized on the court, while changing court designs and dynamic graphics supported the presentation of each game. This turns the playing surface itself into an active part of the event experience and opens up new opportunities for organizers through innovative game concepts, sponsor integration, and multifunctional arena experiences.
Dennis Schröder, League President of THE LGCY SERIES, was impressed by the possibilities of the ASB GlassFloor:
“All the details that can be integrated were already very impressive. I am very positively surprised and, of course, I am happy that we are able to cooperate with you. […] I believe it has a lot of potential, especially when it comes to events. From a commercial perspective, [the ASB GlassFloor] is definitely right at the very top.”
Following the successful debut in Berlin, THE LGCY SERIES heads to Munich on August 9. The event will take place at BMW Park, which features a permanently installed ASB GlassFloor. This further demonstrates how modern arenas can leverage digital sports flooring not only for elite competition but also for innovative entertainment formats.
