The ASB GlassFloor introduces new possibilities for traditional sports. With integrated LED lines, playing fields can be adjusted flexibly and highlighted in a unique way. This allows for new formats that modernize sports and appeal to different audiences. One example is Handball in the Dark, a project ASB GlassFloor developed in collaboration with TV Großwallstadt.
To mark the 100th anniversary of handball in Großwallstadt, a special session was held on the ASB GlassFloor at Untermainhalle Elsenfeld—without conventional hall lighting. The illuminated LED lines on the floor, combined with black light, created a completely different visual experience of the game.
Jan Weber, Head of Global Sales at ASB GlassFloor, explains:
“With Handball in the Dark, we’ve shown how our technology can change the way players and spectators experience the game. The combination of LED lines and black light offers a new perspective on handball. This project demonstrates how the ASB GlassFloor can add value to sports venues and create new event formats.”
Michael Spatz, Managing Director of TV Großwallstadt, adds:
“With Handball in the Dark, we’ve presented handball in a new way. This project highlighted how modern technology can further develop the sport. It was also a great way to start our 100th anniversary—a year in which we celebrate handball’s history in Großwallstadt while looking to the future.”
