Stein on the Traun, May 28, 2024 – On Sunday, the premiere of the Infinity League, the revolutionary indoor football event by DAZN, took place in Munich on the ASB GlassFloor. The event combined football, state-of-the-art technology, music, and interactive fan experiences, creating a unique sports entertainment experience.
Teams from Delay Sports Berlin, FC Bayern Munich, Global United FC, and VfL Wolfsburg, consisting of football legends and content creators, competed against each other in exciting 2×10 minute matches. In a generation and gender-spanning format, there was a women’s team and a men’s team playing in each match.
Highlights of the event included performances by football greats such as Zé Roberto, Lucio, Claudio Pizarro, Christian Karembeu, Melanie Behringer, Julia Simic, and many more, led by coaches Felix Magath and Giovane Élber. German football icon Michael Ballack was also present and described the event as “cool, entertaining, and engaging”.
Unlike other indoor leagues, technology played a central role in the Infinity League, shaping not only the gameplay but also the interaction between players and fans. Equipping players with body cams gave viewers an immersive perspective, enhancing the experience. This technological infusion spurred innovation not only in visuals but also in gameplay mechanics. In addition to these technological advancements, innovative rules were introduced to make the game more dynamic and interactive. For example, teams had the autonomy to decide on the use of VAR, referee legend Urs Meier. At the same time, fans were actively involved in the action, with the opportunity to influence the gameplay, such as deciding when the Funino goals should be open.
The ASB GlassFloor impressed both in terms of entertainment and sporting performance. The floor displayed animations and sponsor displays, while LED boards perfectly complemented the performances, especially during the show acts. This visual dynamism provided an immersive experience that impressed both spectators and players.
It wasn’t just the visuals that excited the players, but especially the quality of the floor, which they praised for its excellent playability.
In the end, Global United FC, led by Lucio, Christian Karembeu, Gaizka Mendieta, and Nicole Billa, triumphed and won the first Infinity League. This event once again demonstrated the enormous potential of ASB GlassFloor to revolutionize sports through the fusion of technology and entertainment.
